Services

I stress the importance of an annual physical examination.  Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help minimize or alleviate serious health problems. I offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your animal companions feeling their best:

Flexible Scheduling and individualized plans based on the needs of the pet and people involved

Personal Consultation to assist people in making decisions about having a pet, general pet care, and concerns involving individual pets

In-Home review of housing and general care options

Wellness Exams: routine and sick-patient physical examinations

Surgical Services:  I provide options and referrals for in-hospital procedures

Emergency Services: Phone consultation in emergency situations  In-home emergency care  Referral for cases in need of immediate in-hospital critical care.

Vaccinations:  Initial vaccinations and routine booster vaccinations for cats, dogs, and ferrets

Claw, Beak, and Wing Trimming

Microchipping:  These days, more folks are electing to have their cats and dogs microchipped.  This is a safe, painless, relatively low-cost method to help identify the owner(s) of an animal, should that animal be lost.  Many veterinary hospitals and shelters have a scanner that can read microchips.  Let me know if you are interested in having this procedure performed for your pets.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  I discuss, as is appropriate, options for referral to local hospitals equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Analgesics/Sedation:  I utilize the safest available analgesics and sedation protocols to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for older or high-risk patients.

Internal medicine consults: I offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures and helps with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.

Laboratory:  I submit laboratory samples to the Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, parasite testing, and specialized tests.  I also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification: I can provide microchip identification.  See "Microchipping" above.

Dietary Counseling:  Guidance available regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight loss/maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  Advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
